The Effect of Group Activity Therapy on the Verbal Ability of Schizophrenia Patients

Abstract
Group activity therapy is psychotherapy carried out in groups of clients together by discussing with each other led by a therapist or mental health worker. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of group activity therapy on the verbal abilities of schizophrenia patients. This research was conducted in Rawat at RSKD South Sulawesi Province in September 2022. This type of research is a one group pre-test and post-test quasi-experimental design. The population in this study was 65 people with a total sample of 10 respondents, obtained using consecutive sampling techniques in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data obtained in this research was processed using the Paired Samples Test statistical test. From the data analysis test, the research results showed that there was an effect of group activity therapy on the verbal abilities of schizophrenia patients with a value of p = 0.001. This shows that the p value < = 0.05. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that there is an influence of group activity therapy on the verbal abilities of schizophrenia patients. It is hoped that the hospital will pay more attention to patient activity so that patients are able to express themselves and are able to perform variable abilities.
