Abstract

The role of nurses as health workers is crucial in the management of hypertension by providing information and knowledge support for sufferers of hypertension to increase awareness of the importance of preventing and treating hypertension by forming a positive attitude so that they can follow the family's optimal supportive hypertension regimen and to prevent possible complications. The type of research used is an analytical survey, namely using a cross sectional approach. This research was carried out using the Non Probability Sampling technique with a total sampling of 35 people. Using the Person Test statistical test. The results of statistical tests between the variable family support and compliance with taking hypertension medication in the elderly obtained a value of p = 0.00 where the value of p < 0.05. These results indicate that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, meaning that there is a relationship between family support and adherence to taking medication at the Tamalanrea Jaya Health Center. It is hoped that it can increase awareness of adherence to taking hypertension medication and the importance of family support in increasing respondents' compliance in taking medication.
