THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY IN THE TREATMENT HYPERTENSION DISEASES

Abstract

From an operational perspective, family is a special structure, in which the family is related to each other, whether through blood or marriage. The general definition of family is grouped into two, namely small family (nuclear family) and large family (extended family). Family plays a big role in physical and mental health. The family plays a role in prevention and has the function of providing emotional comfort, educating and assisting in solving problems, meeting the needs and maintaining the health of the family. The family plays a very important role in the course of hypertension. Objective: This research is to identify a description of the implementation of the family's role in hypertension. Method: This research uses a descriptive method with cross sectional research. The sampling technique was random sampling with a sample size of 44 respondents. The data collection method in this research uses a univariate data observation sheet. Results: This research shows that 39 (88.6%) people whose family role is sufficient and 5 people (11.4) whose family role is lacking. The classification of hypertension shows that 2 (4.5%) respondents have normal blood pressure, and 13 (29.5) respondents are classified as pre-hypertensive, and 25 (56.8) respondents are classified as hypertension stage 1, and 4 (9, 1) respondents who are classified as stage 2 hypertension. The results of this study show that the role of the family is very important in the care of hypertension sufferers. Suggestion: It is recommended that in dealing with hypertensive patients, families should use family roles such as recognizing health problems, providing care, creating a healthy home atmosphere and referring to physical facilities.
