Abstract

The Hospital Emergency Room (IGD) is a part of the hospital service that provides initial treatment for patients suffering from injuries and threats to their survival. Workload is the heavy intensity of work of nurses and efforts to detail the components and targets of work volume in units of time and units of certain results carried out by nurses. Meanwhile, response time is the speed of the nurse's response in serving the patient, calculated from the time the patient arrives at the Emergency Room (IGD) until the initial assessment begins at the hospital. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between nurse workload and response time in treating patients in the ER at RSUD Haji Makassar. This type of research is quantitative research with a cross sectional design approach. The population in this study were 38 nurses who worked in the emergency room at RSUD Haji Makassar. The samples taken used a total sampling of 38 samples. The data obtained in this study was processed using the Fisher Exact Test statistical test. The results of this study show that the workload is (37.7%) with a p value = 0.00. This shows that the p value < = 0.05 from the results of this study can be concluded that there is a relationship between workload and response time in treating patients in the ER. It is hoped that nurses will maintain a response time of <5 minutes and further increase the time achieved.
