Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that remains a global health problem, including in Indonesia, with high morbidity and mortality rates. The success of TB treatment is strongly influenced by adherence to taking medication, one of the determining factors of which is family support. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and adherence to taking medication in TB patients at Daya Makassar Hospital. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross sectional design. The sample was 40 respondents who were taken using total sampling technique. Data were collected using family support questionnaire (12 items) and medication adherence (8 items) with Guttman scale, then analysed using Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents received family support (60%) and most were not compliant with taking medication (65%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between family support and medication adherence (p = 0.02). The conclusion of this study is that family support plays an important role in improving adherence to taking medication in TB patients. Active family involvement in the treatment process is expected to optimise the success of therapy and reduce drug withdrawal rates.
