Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused directly by the bacteria mycobacterium tuberculosis. The role of nurses in handling Pulmonary Tuberculosis cases includes providing care, being an advocate, coordinating services, collaborating, and providing consultation to deal with ineffective breathing problems that can lead to death. The general objective of this study was to determine the
perception and knowledge of nurses in the application of the semi- fowler position for the effectiveness of breathing patterns in tuberculosis patients, this study used quantitative methods, analytical observations using a "cross sectional" design. The population of this study consisted of 30 nurses working at RSUD Daya Kota Makassar. This study used total sampling technique. Based on the results of statistical tests using the chi-square test between the variables of nurses' perceptions with nurses' knowledge in the application of the semi-fowler position for the effectiveness of breathing patterns in tuberculosis patients obtained a value of P = 0.02 smaller than the value of α = 0.05, thus it is concluded that there is a relationship between perception and knowledge of nurses at RSUD Daya Kota Makassar. The results of this study encourage interested parties to
conduct additional research and are expected to have a wider and reliable sample to ensure validity. In this case, related institutions, such as nursing hospitals, can take action according to standard operating procedures.
