Factors related to the readiness of pregnant women to face childbirth

Faktor yang berhubungan dengan kesiapan ibu hamil dalam menghadapi persalinan

Abstract

 Labor is the process of opening and thinning of the cervix, the fetus descends into the birth canal. Birth is the process where the fetus and amniotic fluid are pushed out through the birth canal. The aim of this research is to determine the factors related to the readiness of pregnant women to face childbirth. This type of research is an analytical survey research with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all pregnant women who visited the Labuang Baji Regional Hospital, Makassar. The number of samples taken was 30 respondents taken using purposive sampling technique. From the results of data processing using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α= 0.05, the calculated value was p=0.002 for the variable (physical readiness), for the variable (psychological readiness) p=0.002 for the variable (economic readiness) p=0.001 for the variable (support husband) p=0.002 and for the variable (support from health workers) p=0.004. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between physical, psychological, economic readiness, husband's support, support from health workers on the readiness of pregnant women to face childbirth. The suggestion from this research is that it is hoped that hospital agencies will be more complete, specific and efficient in providing services by providing education about pregnancy and childbirth to reduce the level of anxiety before childbirth in pregnant women.
